Nothing takes me out of a show than when it sounds like the actors are reading a script. Like Matthew Perry's consistently atrocious performance in that remake of The Odd Couple. That's what Olyphant and Barrymore sound like in this show. I liked Justified and Deadwood, and Olyphant was funny playing himself in The Grinder (2015). It's too bad because I thought this might be a fun Dexter-ish comedy.
shareAdmittedly, Olyphant does seem to get more comfortable near the middle of the series, but Barrymore has always been a crap actor. And when it comes to producing, she's spent too much time with Adam Sandler.

shareHaving just finished Dexter a month ago, I was really looking forward to a similar vibe from this show, but I can't even get through the first episode. Can't stand Drew Barrymore's boring acting and dialogue is lacking.
shareKeep going it gets better - even Drew Barrymore. I've never been a fan of hers but actually started to like her in this. Always a fan of Tim Olyphant, I think he's great in everything. I think it just took him a bit to get comfortable in a comedy role.
