Why was this classified as a comedy??
Theres absolutely nothing funny in it at all. Here you have Tonya getting physically abused and terrorized by her mother and Jeff. Not to mention Nancy's knee getting wacked.

shareIt is funny. I laughed many times throughout. Her mother had many comedic scenes especially when she is being interviewed. Shawn the body guard is also a funny character presence in his scenes. Tonya breaking the 4th wall and speaking to the audience in her scenes was also funny.
shareWithout having seen the film, "I, Tonya", and the fact that I know enough about the real-life Tonya Harding and her abusive mom, one of the reasons that I have just refused to see this movie is due to the fact that it renders a sad, disgusting and pathetic story into something that it's not; a thing to laugh at, when that whole story is anything but laughable. Both Tonya and her mom are disgusting people, as are Tonya's ex-husband and his goons.
Also, I'm fully aware of the fact that a certain amount of the money that people pay to see "I, Tonya" goes to Tonya Harding herself, and I do not wish to give her my support in any way or form.
So your comment is based on what you believe you know about Tonya Harding’s life and not the movie “I, Tonya”. “I, Tonya” is listed as a comedy because the movie has comedic elements to it. Simple. For someone who’s never seen the movie and has a dislike for Tonya why is it necessary for you to comment about something you chose not to see.
shareSo what if my comment is based on what I know about the real-life Tonya Harding, and the trailer that I saw of the movie "I, Tonya"? I've got just as right to express my opinions as anybody else on this message board. That's what democracy is all about.
One of the reasons that I chose not to see the movie "I, Tonya", is due to the fact that at least a certain amount of the money that people pay to see "I, Tonya", will go to Tonya. That being said, I refuse to support Tonya Harding in any way or form, and my refusal to see the movie "I, Tonya" is one of them.
That way it would sell on a comprehensive scale.
Classify it at truth and it would die on the vine.
Your point is spot-on, Washingtonnative. Thanks.
shareI'd say the comedy is more so along the lines of the little things like how the mom acted at the beginning to get this little innocent child into the advanced skating class.
The parrot pecking on the moms face and other things i can't remember off the top of my head. I chuckled a bit throughout it at those things but generally just enjoyed the story, and of course enjoyed just looking at Margot throughout the movie.
