HIV storyline?

When Deran and Adrian were sitting on the beach Adrian mentioned his ex fling being at the doctor or hospital because he has an infection - can't remember if it was lungs, liver, kidney...Later when Deran shows up at Adrian's, Adrian tells Deran that he doesn't feel the same way. That's quite the turnaround. I know we can read into it that Adrian is done being used and having a relationship that's one-sided but is it possible the ex found out he has HIV, told Adrian, and now Adrian is trying to protect Deran?

Not sure if this is even a possibility but throwing it out there to see what you think.

I actually like your theory :)
It adds more emotional impact to the relationship storyline. And I don't think it's so far fetched.

Makes sense. I thought maybe the infection was from swimming a mile in the ocean at night, though.

That definitely makes sense as well. It explains the infection line since Adrian mentioned it to Deran knowing it was Deran's brother who threw him in the ocean. It's certainly not a throwaway line so it has to have a purpose and the infection from swimming certainly explains it.

Just seems strange they would mention the ex being in the hospital with an (kidney?) infection if it didn't mean anything.

I thought he said lungs, and I assumed he told him because Deran is the reason he was in the hospital.

LUNGS! It was lungs. Pneumocystis pneumonia is a symptom of AIDS.

You never know, but I think it was just from having to swim to shore (it was a lung infection, I believe) after he got thrown overboard. And he was telling him because he knew he was responsible for it.

I assumed it was from swimming in the ocean, but when Daren broke into Adrian's house and they had sex- he certainly didn't use a condom, so there is that... LOL

It's not HIV/Aids, he got pneumonia from swimming in the Ocean at night.. You're really reading into it a little too much, but I wouldn't be surprised if something like that does come up.

That would be interesting and would make sense why Adrian was so missrable at the party and then rejected Deran.
