Barkin may have been miscast, her acting chops are OK... but............

That's what you look like when you've raised 4 hellions. She's not a traditional beauty but I think she's perfect for the part -- but I've always liked her and thought she was a good actress. They needed somebody with a little wear and tear and she's got it. Somebody too pretty or young wouldn't work, IMO.

I don't think she's ugly. But I don't think she's got the acting chops ... to pull off the type of show they're looking for. She's no Gemma (Sons of Anarchy).

Debra Winger would have been a better choice. She's an amazing actress - and I could see her bringing that same motherly-monster element to the character, like Jackie Weaver did in the movie.

She might not have the MILF quality, but a little substance can be better than style. Especially when her talents are being wasted on some crap Ashton Kutcher-Sitcom..
