The problem of tone
The film could have been much funnier. I feel the writer/director didn't establish the tone very well at the beginning though and as a result a lot of scenes fall flat. There's a reason that big name comedians have warm up acts. The early parts of a film also need some "warm up" to get the viewer in to the right frame of mind, but it wasn't really achieved here.
