Why aren't TV sons interested in sports?

This show, and "Kevin Can Wait", have two macho fathers, but, their sons are nerdy and weird. Boys, with father's like this, want to be like them. The son on MWaP, doesn't care about football, only about that little blue pill in the TV ad. The other son on, KCW, dresses up like a chocolate chip cookie at Halloween, while the sister wears a football uniform. It seems that TV doesn't have any idea about what boys like.

My dad and my big brother are huge sports fans. I however have never watched any game more than couple of minutes.

I've noticed that too, you can find numerous family sit-coms including animated ones that have non athletic sons,

Most so called TV sitcoms consist of (1) an all wise wife, (2) dunce father good only to bring home money and be laughed at (3) a snarky hateful teenage daughter (4) a younger nerdy son with thick glasses who is an expert on every topic under the son.

TV writers are pathetic in their hackneyed clichés.

I don't know everything. Neither does anyone else

Sorry, but Kevin Can Wait as a macho father? I just choked on my drink.

It's definitely not realistic. But there's no comedy to be mined in a father and son with like interests who get along. This isn't a six ep UK series. They might have to drag these shows out for a hundred episodes or more. What would be more interesting is to see a nerdy man raising a jock son who's a total stud. Typically sports enthusiasm runs through the whole family, with even the wife getting on board. I think the son and father who have nothing in common was best done in King of the Hill.
