Looks godawful.

Yet another example of Hollywood finding a public domain property, deciding it's pre-sold, and tarting it up with pretty faces and CGI.

Why

reply

Money, that's why!

reply

Hollywood is a business, you know.

reply

Sometimes, they at least pretend that their moneymaking scenes have some artistic merit.

reply

For all we know it'll wind up better than half the 'award contenders' next spring.

reply

I will admit that that's possible, I just won't say it's probable.

reply

It looks disgusting.

reply

Our family actually LOVED it! We're going to see it again this weekend!

reply

I liked it too. Maybe it helps that I'm not very familiar with the original story because the changes upset some.

reply

That was some of the problem, I think. Many people expected the ballet and this was a story inspired by the ballet, but not the ballet. My wife and I really liked it.

reply

I liked it as well. I don't understand the negative comments. It is better than many blockbusters that are released and scored higher nowadays.

reply

/Looks godawful./

It is.

reply

It is but it's short. Like 90 minutes.

reply

It wasn't very good, sadly. Not awful, just...ok. My DH and I agreed it just missed that magic "something" that often makes Disney movies so wonderful. It lacked heart, really, and although pretty to look at, you just didn't really care about any of the characters. I found myself intrigued by the mother and father, and would have actually liked to see more of them instead of the daughter. Mackenzie Foy is lovely, and a wonderful actress, but just doesn't have the screen stealing abilities of Lee Pace or Helen Mirren yet.
