The Feminist News
seriously is that going to be a major part of the show like it seems to be? about how evil men are?
shareseriously is that going to be a major part of the show like it seems to be? about how evil men are?
shareYou know it is NOT about "how evil men are." It is a pretty accurate depiction of how men are, especially to women. And the comments here on this board pretty well reflect what the show depicts. I am a man and I know, men in general are not very kind and respectful to women, and especially if a woman is in the workplace and attempts to become more than a "good -looking" girl. This show, so far in two episodes, isn't focusing on her baseball skills, I believe as the show develops it will focus more and more on how women must learn to cope in male-dominated activities. It is hard because many men want to see women mainly as sex objects. If not overtly then covertly.

So all men are the same. Its nice to know that Albert Einstein was grabbing women asses on his spare time. And even tho Liberace was gay. He really spent a lot of time looking at women butts.
shareAlthough I agree that men are being generalised, your example of Einstein is a poor choice. He cheated on his pregnant wife and then divorced her to marry his cousin.
shareIf every woman who ever cheated on her spouse would be disqualified from her job, there'd be a lot less women to be considered for any job these days, because women cheat at almost the same numbers as men.

I don't see any mention in this thread of Einstein or anyone else being disqualified because of cheating nor their treatment of their partners. What is your point?
It's very likely during the same time Einstein was imagining special relativity, he also enjoyed grabbing asses and patronising women.
Cheating on your spouse is not a crime, grabbing someone's ass without consent is a crime though. It's called sexual asault. You mentioned Einstein to somehow show that he was an evil man for cheating. I pointed out how many women would be considered evil for doing the same. The show portrays most men as evil and/or stupid, that was the OP's claim.
Too Old to Rock n Roll: Too Young to Die!
I can't follow your train of thought. I'm guessing that you have an issue with women who cheat, but that's all I'm managing to surmise. The OP made the claim that this show seems to present men as evil, so are you saying men don't do the things they portray in the series, or are you just trying to make some kind of comment about feminism based on your belief about certain women's behaviour?
shareWhenever you see a movie/show where one social group is depicted in a negative and generalizing way, you should think twice about the narrative supported by this depiction. In this show, almost all the men are depicted in a negative way (stupid, greedy, horny, sexist, opportunistic, cheating etc) while all the women so far are smart, strong, ambitious and generally 'badass'. Picture a show with the roles reversedand we would be talking about women's right groups calling for a boycott already.
Too Old to Rock n Roll: Too Young to Die!
Except that in my first post, I agreed that they are essentially generalising the men. So, I'm not sure what you are arguing against. Using Einstein as an example of how ridiculous generalising men would be simply wasn't a particularly good one. I'm not going to get into what could turn into an argument for affirmative action, but yes, women empowerment is a common theme culturally, currently. But I don't think it's something anyone needs to take personally, nor use an excuse to broad brush "feminism".
I think a series that is actually more fair to both men and women is something like "The Girlfriend Experience". The lead is a tough woman, but she is by no means a hero nor an anti-hero.
The Einstein example wasn't mine. Agree about The Girlfriend Experience, even though the lead actress can't act. There will be a second season, hopefully with a better actress as the female lead.
Too Old to Rock n Roll: Too Young to Die!
but his cousin had that ass yo!
shareYup -- he based his "Theory of Relativity" on his cousin (relative--get it?) and her black hole.

Hey Mike. Newsflash. Being a self-loathing pansy ass isn't going to help you score with chicks. Another newsflash. Women don't want a limp-wristed apologist. They want a MAN!
shareno, i was talking about the "news" they show on the tv screens with the female anchor talking *beep* about men, just because they are men. it was in the first episode at in the lobby of the hotel and in several scenes in the second.
