Almost the same film as Yuma

Wow

Christian Bale (my favourite actor) is re-doing films now, a shame

reply

It reminded me of The Tracker (Australian movie)

I'm trying to figure out what film you mean as "Yuma." If you're referring to "3:10 to Yuma" (2007) it ain't nothing like it.

reply

really? Western cowboy law dog goes on escort mission to deliver criminal and adventure etc. ensues?

Ain't nothing like it? Lordy, ok then

I get where you're coming from, and you're right to that degree, but...

In "Yuma" the escort is a two-bit desperate rancher -- a nobody being run-off his ranch; in "Hostiles" the protagonist is a legendary Captain, a war hero. One's righteous and naïve, the other's bitter and hardened. Yes, "Yuma" ultimately reveals Evans to be a former soldier who lost the lower part of one leg, but he was hardly a hero, like Broker in "Hostiles." True, both of these roles are played by Christian Bale, but so what?

In "Yuma" the antagonist is a notorious criminal inwardly seeking redemption; in "Hostiles" the 'antagonist' is an aged Cheyenne chief who fought in the Indian Wars. One is off to prison and execution, the other is released from captivity to die in his homeland in peace.

"Yuma" takes place in a relatively small setting in Arizona, with a particularly long sequence in a hotel in Contention City; "Hostiles" starts in New Mexico in the Southwest and traverses terrain from there to a state on the Canadian border, Montana. One's a traditional Western while the other is a 'road movie' within the Western genre.

In "Yuma" the 'hero' dies for the redemption of the antagonist; in "Hostiles" the 'hero' lives and the antagonist (and most of his family) dies.

Lastly, they're very different Westerns in tone and message. I'd elaborate, but this is enough.

Are you autistic? These movies are quite similar in their plot.

reply

Read the differences cited in my above post. Yes, they both have Christian Bale, whoopee.

reply

No, but your one-note redundancy and obvious lack of verbiage reveals that you might be.
