Isn't the character Dopinder a little stereotypical and racist?

I think it is. When moviemakers are gonna realize we live in an intolerable society? Intolerance will not be tolerated.

reply

We need more people who are intolerant of intolerance. Only then will the intolerance stop.

reply

couldn't have said it better

reply

you are correct, we need to be more tolerant......

if you don't go into this thing with a sense of humor, you're in trouble.

Have a short review of this movie if anyone is interested- https://youtu.be/f7GM8LK7Lz8

reply

No.

Do you believe that people like Dopinder do NOT exist?

I mean, where is the racism?

He's Indian.....plenty of those in America
He's a Taxi driver ..... plenty of those in America
He still retains his Indian accent....plenty of Indians in America do

Please point out the racism of the character?

reply

we are not living in an intolerable society. If the society was intolerable, we wouldnt be living in it. Clearly we are capable of tolerating it, if we live in it.

If you do not tolerate intolerance then you become the one you hate anyway. Diversity also means diversity of opinions, even wrong ones.

reply

You think it is but don't bother explaining to us exactly how.

reply

It's sad that you don't see it. A taxi driver with a thick Indian accent. Why can't they hire an Indian lead superhero instead?

reply

Because it wasn't called Dopinder II, but rather Deadpool II?

reply

He's not portrayed as weak or pathetic BECAUSE of his race, so it's a close call at best

No one's making cracks about saffron or cows, either. All the humor comes from his being a normal human whom Deadpool is irresponsibly (but hilariously) dragging into dangerous superhero fights.

reply

Much like the complete lack of fuss over the fact that the film has a gay, interracial, couple, Dopinders nationality isn't touched upon because it's not relevant for any part of the story.
