It wasn't the "Fridging" of Vanessa that was disappointing, but rather...
It was the fact the movie refused to acknowledge and comment on it in a meta sense like it does with every other trope.

shareGiven i love the Deadpool movies, and only know a little bit about the comics, maybe the fact that i don't know what you're referencing - as a 'casual' fan maybe - is an indicator of why they wouldn't include whatever you're referencing?
But i liked the love story!
HerbDirg was most likely saying that there was not a meta reference to the trope of so many films where the hero is inspired to do his thing because his wife or girlfriend (or puppy that was the last link to his wife) was killed at the beginning of the film.
Ok that makes sense! Maybe that's the one thing they chose to keep somewhat serious, and i suppose i don't blame them, their love is a pretty big theme in both movies. I suppose for a joker like Wade, if we're going magical realism that might be the one thing he wouldn't joke about.
shareThat's what I think. I think that was the one thing they decided to keep serious.
shareFor the most part, yeah. It commented on it with the "produced by: did you just kill her" but that was pretty much it.
