so, uhm... the check?..
It's still a mystery why that real estate firm sent Bellow & Hare a check for $7k, and an even bigger mystery, I think, why Bellow & Hare didn't cash it.

I wondered about why the writers used a check as MacGuffin

I do remember Keith giving a simple possiblity when Dory was getting ready to retreat after their intimate night. I forget exactly what he said but I would guess that Is what happened.
shareWhat are you responding to?
What does this have to do with the $7000 check?
Keith told dory that sometimes real estate companies give tax refunds so it was probably just a tax refund. Although, I don't know why you would throw away a 7000 dollar check but maybe they used one of those phone apps where you take a picture to deposit the check.... but then again I think there is a limit on how big of a check you can deposit using those apps. Its a real head scratcher.
shareAh, right, I didn't think of the app, even though I've used it myself (very few payments come by check anymore). But you are right, there are limits.
I mean, it still doesn't explain everything, but at least the part about why the check was thrown out is a little clearer.
Since the show is about millennials, depositing a check via app is a very millennial thing to do I guess. Also, I just realized that its business account so maybe they have higher app deposit limits in this fictional world?
shareWell, the thing is, there just aren't that many occasions for someone like me to use the app because I am paid by direct deposit. Things like tax refunds are done electronically. Since the time I first installed the app like two years ago, I have maybe only had the occasion to use it twice. And I haven't used my own personal checks (or owned a checkbook) in about a decade now.
I don't know, maybe checks are a bigger part of their reality?.. Although the people working at the shop were older in any case, not millennials.
Good question. It could have been a crazy Loraine fake. The real estate company people pointed out that Loraine made a fake business card. Maybe she made a fake check and when the cult realized it was fake they trashed it.
