Don't give somebody a fitness tracker...........

Unless that person has specifically asked for one. I laughed when the irritating Viv gave her the Fitbit, because my husband gave me one last Christmas.

He had specifically asked for one, so I got him one. I never expressed any desire whatsoever to have one, and absolutely DID not want one. But that's what he gave me. I think my look of WTH? And sheer disappointment let him know that the gift was a bust. I was (and still am) recovering from knee surgery, so the idea of 10,000 steps was a joke.

I wear it because he gave it to me, but I never pay any attention to it, and if I lose it, I won't care.

A Fitbit isn't that different than a Weight Watchers membership or fancy soap. Sort of implies you're fat and smell bad.

Well, I don't know about the fancy soap. Lots of women like fancy soaps. Same with perfume. When I get perfume I don't think anybody is telling me I smell bad. My son got me some that I specifically asked for and I love it.

Weight Watchers--well I've known people who wanted to join and because it's not cheap, appreciated getting it as a gift--but again, it should only be given if somebody asked for it.

I don't know what my husband was thinking--other than that he wanted one so much he couldn't imagine me not wanting one. He used to do that when we were first married. If he wanted something, like a game or a camera, he'd give me one. I thought he'd grown out of that.

I agree with topix-761-664161. I LOVE to get soaps, scents and lotions for Christmas. I smell okay, - but admittedly not quite as good as lily-of-the-valley. Hence, the soaps.

My sister gave me a Fitbit for Christmas. I did feel offended. I know I need to lose some weight. It just didn't feel right to me. On the other hand you could say she was concerned for my health. But I didn't feel that way.
