Elena sexuality

Too bad she wasnt bisexual instead of lesiban.

That would have been more interesting. Or at least they could have avoided turning her into such a stereotype. I was annoyed at how they made her "suddenly" uncomfortable with the idea of wearing a dress to her quinces. She wears a skirt to school every single day all season, but then suddenly, now that she's come out, she has to adhere to all the out-dated lesbian stereotypes? Really? The way things are going there'll be an episode next season where she chops off all her hair.

It's 2017 for goodness sake!

I think Elena being lesbian seemed too conventional whereas with being bisexual would have been more interesting turn for her character feeling conflicted over her attraction to josh and Carmen even though she has a boyfriend despite her goth look.it would be hilarious if Elena cut her hair.

I'm not sure where I heard this but there are some catholic (and private) schools that require girls to wear skirts as part of their uniform just like their are religions that require women to come to church in dresses and skirts. I'm not sure if that's the case here but it would seem so. She also was very uncomfortable with all the make up and people looking at her in one of the earlier episodes so it's not that much of a stretch.

I was thinking the same thing. She wears the skirt because she has to, not because she wants to. But a lot of Catholic high schools do give the option for girls to wear pants with their uniforms too.

You'd think that would be the case, but the local Catholic Schools where I live now make the girls wear long gray pants and long sleeve button-up shirts with the school logo. They look terrible, but I guess they don't want them to "distract" the boys. The school year here starts in August and doesn't end until late May and dress code is the same despite the heat and humidity. Since the diocese runs all the parochial schools it's the same dress code regardless of which parochial school they attend.

I thought she wore that pant suit to her Quinces as a way of coming out.

Elana being a lesbian was so cliched. It would have been a more interesting twist if she went out on a date with a girl and realized she wasn't a lesbian, maybe seeing her male date out with another girl.

Her being gay might be cliche, but how mom and dad got over that news that isn't cliche. The main story is not that she is gay, but how do parents deal with it. All other shows there is more focus on kids, but this show placed it on parents. That's cool

It was good to see also the fact that in some cases not everyone in the family is supportive.
