As Good As Cancelled
Stupid PC mess no one will watch, but nice try.
shareGood call,Einstein.
shareGod, if you exist, strike dead the brainless idiots on the anti-PC bandwagon.
They hate everyone who does not agree with them (like the PC they claim to abhor).
They don't understand the difference between reality and their twisted view of it (which sets them at odds with those who do, calling them "PC" when they are merely trying to reflect reality in their art.)
They chase ghosts of what used to be the real abuses of PC in favor of supplanting a "RETURN TO TRADITIONAL VALUES" which really just means calling women "broads" (or worse) calling gays "homos" (or worse) and calling black men "boy" (or worse) and not being appropriately called out for it.
In other words...Archie Bunkers all around.
Give it a rest, Trump voters. You've sold the country and the world down the river. That should be enough for you. If you don't think Latinos, gays, strong females, or soldiers with PTSD should be on TV, then cancel your Netflix and just listen to hate-mongering yahoos on AM radio.
Love is like breathing. You have to take some in and let it out to live.
scoey, that was amazing. Couldn't have said it better myself, would I try to top that. Much love.
shareI don't know what PC has to do with this. PC or not PC I don't care. The show is just not funny.
*The above statement has nothing to do with politics, rage, apathy, the Easter Bunny, HMS Titanic, Bob and Doug Mckenzie, Candy Korn or anythings in the universe at all excepting the show.
Any and all other connections you may perceive are entirely of your own creation and thus your property.
Well, I certainly hope you are less judgmental in the classroom, teach. According to you, all Trump voters MUST be racist and sexist. Anyone with conservative values disguises their hatred by calling it traditional. And people who dislike the current PC leaning in America obviously hold invalid opinions.
But we're the racist ones??
At the time being, one is still allowed to speak their mind in our country, despite your SJW efforts to turn the world and IMDB into a safe space. Academia is the leftist spawning pits...and this show plays out as an indoctrination to your way of thinking. Remember when shows actually supplied entertainment first with messages secondary? The original show was entertainment with a feminist message back when it was a relevant issue. Guess what? Despite what SJWs would have us believe, everyone is equal in America, our current laws make it so. The entire PC agenda only serves to divide our population.
I have no desire to keep ANY group off of TV, I am just tired of being told that I do. Everyone has a valid opinion AND the right to voice it. These shows advocate thought policing. Hell, they even acknowledge the "benefits" of white guilt in the show. Enough racism! End it.
You're not really paying attention if you think everyone is finally equal in the US. Laws are disregarded all the time and bigoted racist etc people want to create exceptions to the law due to their biased and backward beliefs and under Trump they are very likely to get them. Something being in the law doesn't guarantee equality without a force behind it. Racist and other backward mindsets are not valid. When a religious person, for example, can help to get a law passed so that religious people don't have to follow laws they don't like, that is not allowing everyone to be equal in the US. Racism and sexism and other backward ways of thinking will not go away unless and until no one is allowed to hold these kinds of ideas without being called on it and, yes, punished so that these concepts are wiped out as much as possible. Laws that certain old fashioned backward groups don't like can chance very quickly when the government and the courts, especially the SCOTUS, will change them to suit the backward and outdated people.
shareWell said, scoey!
shareThe show is actually doing great, but enjoy your pathetic hatred. Calling everything PC shows your limited intelligence. Sorry you're upset that there are a few non-white characters on TV that aren't maids or criminals so you can pretend to be superior.
shareI'm watching it and enjoying it. Will watch a second season and any other seasons they produce.
"The end of the shoelace is called the...IT DOESN'T MATTER!"
I'm old enough to have grown up watching "All In The Family", and loved Archie Bunker.
I Liked "Cristela", and was disappointed when it got cancelled.
And although I never liked the original, this remake of "One Day At A Time", is both funny with just the right touch of family drama sprinkled in.
I'm sure there must be a legitimate reason or two why someone wouldn't enjoy this show, however, like most people who voice their disagreement on the internet, it has more to do with complaining because your ice cream is cold than it has with anything of substance or consequence.
Also, Gloria Estefan did a good job salsafying the theme song, and if that's not a word, it should be.
I'm ready for them to bring back Sanford and Son next!
shareNo way. One Day At A Time's hook was its concept, which has somehow been successfully recreated here, but Sanford and Son, on the other hand, relied on Redd Foxx specifically.
Although, I would love to see another show in that style, just maybe not use the ottoman name. I kind of wish this show went by a different name unrelated to One Day At A Time.
It can't be THAT PC if the family spoke up against Schneider's Che Guevara t-shirt. The far left has a boner for both him and Castro (both R.I.H.).
shareI haven't met any Democrats who would like tyranical despotic dictators. Of course, I probably don't think of it the way you do, though. The vast majority of Americans on either side wouldn't approve of dictatorial regimes.
sharePlease. One of my former co-workers (a FUH-LAAAAAMING liberal!) was waxing poetic about Fidel Castro on Facebook when he finally kicked the bucket. I reminded her that he killed many, MANY dissidents and tortured many more, and if she wanted to unfriend me for saying that, I didn't care.
share@magnoliafreak: Perhaps -- Un Día a Una Vez?
shareThey will have to be sort of careful with a remake of that one. First of all, Sanford and Son is a remake of a British show called Steptoe and Son. That in itself was an accomplishment because most remakes of British shows don't work for American audiences throughout the history of TV. Second, it would be difficult to create a modern show about a poor African American father and son who are that poor without it turning into something other than a comedy if they try to keep it realistic.
shareI agree with weavermovies. I was initially confused by the remake because the show just didn't seem relevant anymore. I don't know any other millenials into the original. However, I think they've presented us with something relevant and refreshing. I could definitely do without the laugh track, but the writing is good.
shareHow is it PC?... PC is stupid person code for "Stars non-white people" isn't it? God, not even trying anymore
sharePC is short for "I'm too sensitive and thin skinned to let you have an opinion."
I want to like this show. There are aspects I like. I love Rita Moreno as the grandmother. There are parts of Elena I like (and she's the most liberal of them all!). But, there are many things I don't like. I just watched the episode where Carmen's parents get deported. They were deported because they were here illegally, but we're supposed to think it's wrong because they had a daughter here they had to leave behind? I'm sad the daughter has to leave her friends and school her senior year (and her parents) but she's got a brother to live with so it's not completely bad (she could be stuck in America 100% all by herself). She's almost a legal adult. And it's another show where the white man is the buffoon. I'm only on episode five, but not one white person on this show is seen as anything but a lonely, idiotic loser--the three people Penelope works with. Is that necessary? (white people can be buffoons as anybody can but every white person--come on! I'd get behind it if the boss was the buffoon and the two co-workers were decent people).
I am going to watch this show til the end of the season before I make a final judgement.
I hate PC too but this criticism of the show is dumb in this case and is indicative of the very attitude that the OP decries. Irony much?
It is funny and heart warming. Even poignant at times. I do not agree with a lot of the politics/religious issues portrayed but I am not so bound up in my own views that I cannot appreciate good TV.

Canceled, but with an 8.2 rating on IMDb. Netflix will regret that move eventually.
