She was way out of line with that Idaho sherrif

What he said about the hypothetical 17 year old girl and her boyfriend was completely justifiable, but then she berated him so badly for what he said to the point of it just being mean! She acted like a total *beep* during that segment and I lost a lot of respect for her.

Isn't that sex with a minor though? Which in itself is illegal.

reply

Not if the guy is also 17 or actually younger than the girl. There are old unenforced laws making it illegal for minor teenagers to fornicate, but good luck trying that case when both parties are claiming rape. Ages of consent vary state-to-state, and it's not statuary rape if the older person is the older person is an adult but within a certain amount of years older than the other I've always heard that it's 4 years. As asinine as it is for it being legal for someone suddenly being able to purchase tobacco product on their 18th birthday and purchase & consume alcoholic beverages on their 21st birthday, the powers-that-be have yet to make it outright illegal for an 18 year old guy to have sex with a consenting 17 year old girl, whom he may have been having sex with while he was a minor, starting on his 18th birthday.

is this what satire comedy has become now? Acting outraged and angry over every clip while your audience of sycophantic lapdogs claps and agrees with everything you say? Um, that's fine and all, but wheres the funny part? At least Colbert and Stewart could still do that kind of stuff and be funny about it, but the likes of these new kids on the block (Bee, Wilmore, Noah) is just painful to watch.

reply

Yeah I agree. She takes clips way out of context and makes the subject look evil when they clearly are not.

reply

Then go watch Larry Wilmore instead...

How to create an atheist: read the bible twice cover to cover.

reply

No way, he is even worse. Everything he says is about racism.

reply

He's been given a voice to focus on the news cycle from a Black perspective and since you don't watch you have mistakenly concluded:

Everything he says is about racism.

He's a big Star Wars fan and did many jokes on that. He had Neal deGrasse Tyson on about a new discovery and Bill Nye the Science guy.

All of his correspondents have some really funny skits (except Ricki) and Mike is especially funny.

Actually I did watch his show for the first few months it was on, and yes it was almost always about racism or black strife.

reply

She is the Michael Moore of satire comedy, does a lame interview, tries to find something she can use and twists words/facts around and then tries to be funny about it, none of which works.

reply

I really used to like her, but now after watching 8 episodes, I think I actually hate her now.

reply

Yep and now that he's been on over a year he's broadened his appeal but he'll never give up his Black viewpoint. Comedy Central is giving a voice to an under-heard cultural group.

reply

Under-heard cultural group? Black people? I hope you were being sarcastic.

reply

Not at all.
I don't see the views on Larry's show on any other late night host's show.

Where else would you get the Black History month mentions of the first Black man to reach the north pole or the guide to understanding a Black Woman's hand signs in Women's History Month or Mike and Rory switching sides and debating the pros and cons of the KKK?

Larry was the only one that had several Flint water activists on.

No other nightly talk show that is on a network that isn't devoted to Black only audiences, has the scope and level of Black culture represented as Larry's.

Criticism of religion is not racism...

None of what you just described sounds funny at all. This is supposed to be a comedy show, right?

Maybe Larry would make a better elementary school teacher than late night talk show host.

Also earlier you mentioned how he had Bill Nye on as a guest. He treated Bill like he was some a$$ wipe with nothing interesting to say and even said something about the Kardashians being more interesting than what Bill wanted to talk about. Larry Wilmore is either a moron or a hack but he comes off as both regularly.

reply

Everything he says is about racism.

He should leave the racial coverage to Fox News, MSNBC, and CNN, where the 24 hour news cycle gives these delicate subjects time to breathe, so as not to offend my delicate sensibilities.
