At what point are they going to start locking the front door?

The show starts every episode with a 5 year old kid going out for a walk and getting driven home by some family friends who drive a van.

At what point are they going to consider locking the front door before they go to bed each night?

Joe likes his routine?

I keep wondering how he gets so far from home every morning. He looks like he's miles away, and it's so remote. And it seems just A-Okay with the family. At what age would he have started doing this? Seems that part of the routine could have been nipped in the bud years ago, but it's a convenient dramatic device, I guess.

Is he actually doing it every morning or is this just the way the show opens with the same scene over and over?

I agree, tho, the parents are certainly in denial. they thought he was oh so intelligent because of the quirks he had.

well he MIGHT actually be very smart, but at this point he cannot even be tested!
He needs school.

This is obviously not the same scene over and over again if you pay attention to how it unfolds like at all.

I've been wondering this too. Wouldn't this be...illegal to allow a child that young wander around in a remote place, especially with headphones on, which is dangerous because a car might never see him and he can't hear an incoming car. Idk, something seems odd about the parents.

I thought the same when [spoiler]the police detained the foreign people in the van.[spoiler] The police never questioned the parents about the boy being in the road so early and all alone. It didn't make sense to me.
