Tense to watch, but confusing on a few fronts (spoilers)

So the initial funeral attack was fake, but were the subsequent incidents from across the country also fake? Or did they provoke all those militias into violent action?

Did Gannon's police superior make him murder a fellow undercover cop, in order to have pretext to raid the klan/gang where he was planted?

And that was his reason for leaving the police force, but then he joins this militia? To do what exactly? Overthrow the govt?

And he just leaves the force and nobody really pays for a cop murder? And they ask him at the end to help them out (join the police again?)

I must have missed something or some of this doesn't seem credible for the story line.

SPOILERS

I believe they were all fake.

I thought Gannon was just putting on an act to get Keating to confess. I'm really not sure.

I don't know.

I think we're just left to fill in the end ourselves. I would like to think Gannon let's the force get "comfortable" with him, then he goes to the press and spills the beans, including the admission of the cop murder (if that was a real story).

I may watch it again to see if it's more clear. Or maybe not.

Yeah, everything that came over the radio was fake. The whole thing was just a big performance, War of the Worlds style.

I think Gannon really did kill another cop, though. I'm pretty sure the flashbacks were real memories, especially because we get glimpses of the scene at the very end and not just when he's interrogating Keating.

It's not a very plausible film, but it's interesting and original and very well-directed. I enjoyed it. A nice little indie.
