Question about the truck spoilers

I have a question about a certain scene before Jong-Goo, the deacon, and his angry posse stormed "the stranger's" house. It was shown that the "stranger" headed back to the truck where he kept a body, but was unable to find the body, which causes him to worry and flee.

What exactly was that scene? Why did the "stranger" have a worried look on his face? Didn't he control the spirit of that dead guy as he was able to reanimate it anyway? Or maybe I was just misreading his emotions at that time?

There is a deeper level to the movie, my friend :)

The dead body that the stranger found was the source (or connected) to a zombie-like contagion.

The movie was a zombie movie, with characters that believed they were dealing with a demonic curse.
