Axel and Doc's chemistry/relationship intrigues me!

The reason I've decided to continue watching the show is because of Axel and Doc's relationship. I'd love to know what's going on there.

But...I can already predict the predictable...

(Edit)

I wrote my prediction thinking the writers were going to scapegoat the Doc. It turns out, I was wrong. I now know the serial killer is the deaf dude but I'm still pulling for Doc and Axel.

reply

Interesting. I don't see much chemistry of any kind between any of the cast so far.

reply

Actually since they added Susan, to the team. I think they might hook her and Axel up instead. I like her character. She took out two guys at the same time with no help and she's smart.

reply

Was the only thing that intrigued me about the show too. They're kinda cute but I agree with the way this show is going she's probably the killer for no real reason.

reply

Their storyline is my favorite of the show. I don't think they'll pair up Axel and Vanessa. Axel protects Vanessa because it's his duty, but he looks after Doc because he is emotionally attached to her. I want to see where they take that relationship.

just finished watching the most recent ep (ep.8) and the Axel/Doc thing is bizarre, lame and completely unnecessary IMO. it also feels 100% forced. Axel's continuing to put his hand on the Doc when it has been very clear to anyone with eyesight that Doc does not want to be touched like that (at least not at moment in the character's life and not in that moment in the ep) and the fact he keeps doing it and kind of hitting on her (in ep.8 he pulls her aside and creepily smiling offers to give her and only her his fruit cup he still had) is so stupid and UBER-creepy. she even tells him later in ep.8, when he comes over to her and tries his creepy concern for her, to leave her alone and he storms off in a huff completely oblivious to her overt actions/words (over several eps) to leave her alone.

it also doesn't help that the Doc is shrill and completely unlikable. Axel started off cool/somewhat likable but he's not at all really anymore...wait, 2 unlikable, douchey people? maybe they belong together. lol.

the only characters on the show i like (somewhat) are new addition Susan and Mohammad. i sometimes like Vanessa and then other times the writers make her unlikable.

reply

Really?

I happen to like the Doc and I don't think she's shrill. She's ridden with anxiety, and I absolutely get it.

Here's my take: The Doc is trying to sort out what happened to her, and feels burdened by the possibility that saving the human race may rely on her creating a bio-chemical weapon with 9 pints of Vanessa's blood.

And just think about that concept for a minute. Axel sees her and Vanessa as the solution to the Vampiric plague. We're talking about her saving 7.9 billion people affected by a fictional vampiric disease, and the Doc is expected to cure it using 65 ml per kg of Vanessa's blood. That's insane!

Usually when it comes to genetic engineering and biological weapons, there's a team of experts working together to get the end result...but when there is just one person with that specific skill, it's utterly daunting. So yes, I understand why she's unable to deal with the people in her group, sometimes.

So yeah, I completely get it. I understood the Doc immediately. It's why I latched onto her, so quickly.

As for Axel, the Doc knows what he expects of her and the weight of that responsibility can be, as I've mentioned, jarring; but it's also clear that she also cares for him...so there's that.

And I still think Axel is cool.

I like Axel and there was always something about they way he cared for the Doc, feeding her his own Blood, it doesn't get much more personal than that. Maybe she is ashamed and also disgusted with herself and needs to get over it. I don't really understand her though, if Axel hit on me, I'd would give in, he is attractive and what else is there to get by on at least have some fun, if you can...

But I do still have sympathy for her, yes she is quite rude at times, but then again she has been through allot and everybody has their own Timeline to work through their Demons.
Plus i also see that she is torn, she does like Alex, but she doesn't want to allow herself to like him, for whatever reason. After she told him to Leave her Alone, she felt sorry right afterwards, But Alex likes the chase so, even though he was annoyed at this point, I don't believe he'll give up. I mean common the guy is still completing his mission ;)

Did you feel that John got what he deserved? I mean she did say No, no, no, and he just kept going. This was one of the most powerful scenes so far in the show, as it was very Real. This is what happens all the time, yes two people had a good time, maybe even drunk, then the guy kisses the girl or even the other way around and then the guy wants to go further (groping, undressing etc) and the Girl doesn't want that and says No, stop.
Just because there was a kiss before doesn't mean you can go all all the way.

Not saying he deserved Death, but in this case if they would have cast him out he probably would have been dead pretty quickly and since they couldn't get out and it all escalated with him then threatening to kill Susan, they didn't really have a choice. He was a Brute for sure.

reply

Let get to the question about the attempted rape, first before getting back to Axel & the Doc.

The kiss that escalated into an attempted rape was a realistic depiction of how rape happens in the real world. Susan and John went from drunkenly comparing music, to kissing, to John trying to force himself on her after she repeatedly said no. I usually have a problem with how fiction portrays a sensitive topic like rape but in this case, they portrayed it as it realistically happens. As for John's death, it was necessary. Can't expect the group to trust him alone with other females after attempting to rape and threaten Susan with a broken bottle, or even after trying to sneak a peak at the Doc using the bathroom. Those are clear signs of someone who is disturbed. He would've done something else to endanger the remaining women left in the group. So yes, I think it was necessary for Vanessa to kill him.

Now let's talk about Axel and the Doc...

Yes, Axel definitely is a hottie and if it were me, I'd jump his bones in a New York minute and I agree with everything you said here...like 100%.

I happen to also think they're kind of alike but that's me. Love your analysis and agree that the Doc feels indebted to him for saving her life, and that it's messing with her head whenever she's around him. I also think she's attracted and doesn't know what to do about it but either way, I'm still rooting for these two crazy cats.

reply

Chucky, i agree 100% that Axel is a F'ing sexy! very hot man! :)

reply

I agree that he's very attractive. His character better not get the Axe. Him and Mohammed are my favorite characters.

I'm starting to think that Doc still has some sequalae left from her vampire state, such as her want for blood. She doesn't want any regular food, and I bet she is trying to keep herself from drinking blood. I think that might be why we see her collapsing. I think the thirst is making her cranky, and that's why she snapped at Axel. Just my theory.

reply

I think you're right about Sam. I always thought is was suspicious that Doc wasn't a bigger suspect but I don't want her to be the murderer. It's great/entertaining how they have that as a b-plot, just picking off members of the group as they go.
