Season Finale (Spoilers)

So after all these eps, the show finally gets a few minutes of being interesting and it's over till whenever.

Axel is back, but as a vamp, I think. Maybe Vanessa will turn him back.

Flesh is on Vanessa's side.

Mohamed is probably going to try to redeem himself now that his sister has turned on him.

We finally learn Vanessa is a descendant of the famous Van Helsing family.

Dmitri and Rebecca were more interesting in this ep.

And Vanessa finally finds her daughter, but she's a vamp. And we don't know if Vanessa can turn her back or not.

I didn't think the show deserved another season, but after this finale, I can see the potential, if they keep it interesting. It was renewed.

It was a decent finale. I'm glad it got renewed. Hopefully they'll be some improvements, such as not killing off every interesting character. But damn, can Vanessa get a break. Betrayal after betrayal, heart break after heart break. I guess that's what defines a hero. But hopefully more heroes that she can trust will come into play, as well as making the villains more interesting.

So it did get renewed for sure?

reply

Yes, they did an official announcement. We are getting a full season two. But I have no clue when it will air.

They really need to get rid of the dead weight for Season 2. Frankly, there was so much bad in this show and so little that was good.

They need to run with the stuff that really worked.

Those 'surprise' endings were about as unsurprising as an episode of Tales of the Unexpected.

But either way, if Vanessa keeps getting ever more kick-ass, the show could redeem itself in season 2 :)

Axel is vamp for sure. The way he moved, sounded and blood in is face. The question now will be; he will be a villain maybe try to destroy Vanessa for leave him behind or maybe is a good vamp and will look Vanessa so she could help him.

I am wondering is Vanessa a werewolf? I mean in the first episode she had huge fingernails lookt almost as claws.

Also how could the vamps infect Vanessas daugther i tought the Helsings are immune to bites?

Awesome to see Alex at the end. I hope he will take his revenge on the doc.

reply

SciFiFan, i was wondering about Vanessa's daughter too. wouldn't she have the same blood/blood type as her mom? wouldn't the daughter/her blood have had the same immunity/effects on the vamps as Vanessa's does?

reply

Dimitri was saying something about Vanessa father scaring her mother. Maybe his father was a vamp and she is damphir, so her daughter will be human. Or her father was another supernatural creature.

reply

I wondered the exact same thing. Shouldn't Dylan be immune from vampire bites? She is a Van Helsing, after all, unless she is adopted?

I can't figure out why the vamps kept having her daughter a secret from Vanessa. If they wanted Vanessa they could have lured her there easily by letting the word get out they had her daughter at the camp. That was s seriously convoluted plot development that had her daughter appear out of nowhere - and as a vampire. It came out of left field.

Axel being alive, but vamped is a welcome surprise. I hope Vanessa turns him back. His character was interesting, and he was the only truly loyal person Vanessa had watching her back. I hope he kills the Doc, as she is a terrible character, completely irredeemable.

So Taka turns out to be a power-hungry human willing to make deals with vampires. Aren't any of the main characters in this show worth saving? I mean, Sam is a serial killer, Mohamad sold out Vanessa to save his sister who values her own comfort over humanity itself, the Doc is a traitorous coward. Other than Vanessa, the only two characters who've shown any humanity are Flesh and Susan, and both were once vampires. Even Axel kept a lot of secrets and didn't think saving children was more important than keeping the door closed with no vampires around at that hospital. The human species is not looking very good so far.

I would have been happy if Dimitri has just died already. Please, just move on to a new villain. At least Julius wasn't in this one. That actor seriously overacts in every scene. Rebecca needs some explanation as her helping the rebels makes no sense from several angles.

I don't think "the Van Helsings" are. Only Vanessa because she probably had vampire blood too. As Dylan father is a human, whatever Van has on her blood is "diluted".
Another option...Van only developped the immunity after dying the first time, like the highlanders. So when she has Dylan she was normal and Dylan would be "human like/vulnerable" until she dies.

reply

Something I didn't get in the finale about the Van Helsing lineage.
Dmitri said at one point "I have known your kind...". So are they humans or a complete other specie ?

reply

I told myself before watching the finale that if they reveal Axel is still alive, I'll be back next season no matter what. The annoying doctor lady not showing up was a nice bonus.

reply

Haha, me too. I hope Vanessa can cure him because I think he's one of the few characters that didn't betray her. He wasn't 100% upfront with her about what his original mission regarding her was, probably because he figured with the way the world had gone to hell it didn't matter anymore, but I do think he was on the verge of it in that last episode where Doc left him for dead. Vanessa was mad at him for keeping secrets but, when compared with the levels of betrayals she's had since then, I'd say Axel's lies by omission were small potatoes. He never would have turned her over to the vampires.
