I'm so glad it's over

The last episode of Season 2 almost drove me mad. I couldn't wait for Star Trek: Burnham to end. I hope Discovery stays where it's at, and Season 3 transitions with the Enterprise from Pike to Kirk.

Because of legalities with CBS, we're forever stuck in the old federation loop of variations in the "Kirk" era, give or take some years. Life past Voyager is most likely gone, so I guess we might as well get used to the same old shit.

Then again, even Paramount went back in time with its crappy enterprise to kill off ST.
I for one really dislike prequels of any sort - a prequel implies the writer is a moron who forgot to write the beginning of the story - A prequel also limits the scope of new material introduction because it all has to somehow fit with the narrative introduced in latter series - so there's an inherent flaw with prequels.

reply

JJ Abrams broke that rule of prequels by having the timeline changed. He was freed up to change what happens. But I'm no fan of JJ Abrams. How could someone so badly screw up a character like Khan?

reply

I haven't even touched ST:D Season 2, I was watching The Orville Season 2 instead.

CBS, the backward bastards that they are, stick with TOS Prequels because they think they're the only Star Trek worth bothering with, and that everyone loves TOS most. I actually don't, for one.

It baffles me as to why Star Trek as a franchise was split between Paramount and CBS in the first place. I thought that Paramount owned ALL of Star Trek forever, and who could ever forget their closing logo animation with the Star Wars theme?

reply

Well, all this confusion with Paramount and CBS has caused this product to exist.

This video explains everything about the split, and about why ST has become stagnant.

I'll be glad when the Troll Babies quit the group. Too stupid to realize the name of the show is Discovery, so no Enterprise for you!

When the Picard show starts by year end, I'm sure you'll be bitching it's not TNG.

reply

I don't have an issue with "Discovery", I have an issue with this overall show. If they did it right, it would be enjoyable.

reply

This being a SJW reboot, Picard will come out as gay and marry Bortus from Orville.

reply

Nothing wrong with Bortus. Nothing wrong with The Orville, neither.

You are NOT going to like the confirmed main storyline for season 3.

Spoiler:
it takes place 950 years in the future
reply

I have always, wonder do why people who don't like a show hang out in it's comment section? Apart from spreading YT lies and generally running down the show, what is the point? The Orville is available and many people like it. It would be different if the dislike was explained or reasoned so anyone who feels differently could respond. However just to gripe for the sake of gripe is...

Quit your griping, will ya?

reply

So you can continue yours?

They're cute when they're young.
