Did you stand and applaud at the end?
I watch films several times every week, but this is the first time several audience members have stood to applaud a film at the end. Did you witness the same? Did you stand and applaud?

shareIt happened at the screening I saw this evening. It was so bizarre. I also go to the cinema every week with the unlimited Cineworld membership and have only ever encountered applause one other time and that was one guy at 'Django Unchained'. This however was about 20 people clapping? Needless to say I didn't join in... Who are we clapping to exactly?!
shareThey're clapping themselves to make them look good . They're probably the same type of people who applaud Hamas and Hezbollah
shareI did that at the screening, as well as other people. Very emotional film! And so true!
shareI actually stifled tears at the end and I could hear the audience members around me sniffing and doing the same.
Haven't experienced a similar reaction since maybe Schindler's List!

The sniffing was probably cocaine usage keeping the audience awake
shareNice predictable response, well played! 😉

you`ve made it onto my `ignore list`
shareIn my cinema-going life I've seen this strange phenomenon 2 times I believe. It's still one of the strangest experiences I've ever had. I'm talking about people clapping towards a white screen. Who are they clapping to... and why?
That being said, this is the best movie I've seen this year. I'm not afraid to admit I was in tears by the end. No-one was clapping though, more fitting, the audience were all sitting down in silence for a few moments before finding the strenght to get out of their seats and leave.
17th November is National I Daniel Blake Day and there will be special screenings of the film all across the country. Check your local venue here:

Read it and weep, trolls!
I just watched it in Hong Kong today and yes there were some clapping. It doesn't happen often.
I remember there were clapping when I watched sing street, bride for rip van Winkle, mommy.
