Season Three

Just finished S03. Spoilers below.

Great nested plot.

I saw and expected "the starting a war" plot but not the coup. Great performances by everyone especially the veteran actors. I'm glad they didn't over-saturate the season with back flashes like other shows; they did just enough to reference the young faces with the current characters and the reason behind both plots.

I enjoyed this season more than the last one and I agree, the veteran actors in this were terrific, especially the characters Luka (James Cosmo) and Petr (Peter Guinness).

They did a better job this season of not making Ryan engage in too much unbelievable ‘action hero shenanigans’ although I think he would be just a bit more credible if we saw him crunching data/leads every now and again so we wouldn’t have to always take it on faith that he’s the brightest mind in the CIA yet seemingly never backed by his superiors, but I’m only nit-picking here.

I liked seeing Ryan team up with James Greer and Mike November again and hope we see the trio in future episodes.

Enjoyed it quite a bit, much more realistic than the previous season. Every scene had meaning and intention, which was nice for pacing.

The only thing that concerned me was the helicopter not falling to the ground after the nuke goes off, there would be an EMP at that range even with a tunnel detonation. They should have landed.

Hopefully in Season 4 everyone backs Ryan from the start, the show 24 had too much of Jack being ‘rogue’ or on his own already, even though he was always right, and this is very similar.

I agree, that helo should have hit the ground...like it did in the Jack Ryan film "The Sum of All Fears" after the nuclear explosion.
I didn't mention it in my post but this season reminded me of that film since some of the plots were similar.

Agreed, makes me want to rewatch Sum after all this time, quite enjoyable, great music too.

it was good. Two episodes too long I think. Story peaked 3/4s through. A problem with this show is Jack Ryan is the least interesting character of the bunch. And that's cause for some hair brained reason they chose not to make him a family man.

I was a little puzzled about the seeming execution of Luka (James Cosmo) at the end. Wouldn't the president who remained in power as Luka worked to keep the coup/war from happening have appreciated his service? Who actually ordered his death?
