Ummm, why all the hate?
I saw this at the theater when it was out. Loved it.
Now a year later I catch it again on TV and came to the board here and WOAHHH doggy what the hell did everyone else see?? Certainly not the same movie I saw.
I really do not get all the hate for this film.
I'm gonna even go so far as to say many people today are so used to taking the contrary position that I wonder if they ever actually give something a legitimate chance.
Did these haters see the same film I did?
Listen, I am *decidedly* tough on sequels, even to the point that I rarely watch one these days after decades of being numbed down by eye-rolling sequels made only to exploit the viewing public for a buck. But this movie is not one of those. And in light of that, it consequently says a lot when someone comes on here and paints it as such. Because it's not.
As I just googled several pages looking for the screenplay I came across tons of articles, nearly unanimously slamming this film. DID THEY WATCH THE SAME ONE I DID? WTF. Believe me, if it had flaws or issues I'd be the first to slam it right here on the boards. But it doesn't. So what's glaringly obvious (to me) is the absence of 'meat' behind all the criticisms. Seems like some just want to be contrary for contrary's sake. I've watched it twice now and I just don't get what all you guys' hangups are with this film. smh
IMO this is one of the rare sequels that stands alone as a very solid plot. It took the two main characters and expanded them further. It was a well designed plot, in its own right, and well paced and zero pandering. There was only one tiny thing I found somewhat 'convenient' (Alejandro coming upon the trucks on the highway) but other than that it was IMO a very fine standalone film.
Why all the hate?
I just don't get it.
Wait. I know. I'll tell you why. Because it's 'cool' to hate on films. That's why.
Because anyone with good sense who sees this one will acknowledge that it is a well done film.
That is all.
