GOOD MOVIE, BUT VERY OVER RATED

Low budget movie, and in a good way, a one time watchable one. But also I think it's very overrated.

I have to agree. What killed this movie for me was the hype. I enjoyed it, but I wouldn't say it's 100% like Rotten Tomatoes gave it. It was just...a good movie. Nothing GREAT. Nothing AMAZING. Just...good. Also, maybe its just me, but nothing in this movie was scary, other than a cheap jump scare via musical cue, and a character previously thought dead popping back up again a few minutes later. It was awkward, creepy, and funny. But nothing that drives a chill down my back like "Well, I can never get that out of my mind", and sticks with you long afterwards. To be honest, the only part of the movie that sticks out to me and sticks with me long after the movie is over...is not even in the movie. It's the alternate, original ending that runs a chill down my spine. With the ending used in the version we got, the movie wants you to be relaxed and feel okay leaving the theater. Meanwhile, in my head, I'm going "But this and that. And realistically, that and this would happen. It can't just stop here because so and so touched this and left that."

I feel like most people...not everyone, but most people...felt like they had to give this a HIGH rating due to the social commentary that is in the movie. And while the social commentary made the movie a lot better and smarter than what the overall plot develops to be, it doesn't deny the fact that it's just a decent, entertaining movie.

It was one of the worst movies I'd ever seen. It only has 2 bad reviews. There is no way, payoffs were made. I hope people get exposed. I really do.

Agreed that it is overrated. It actually was 8.1 on imdb one time. There are way better movies with much lower rating. It deserves a 7 on imdb ratings.

Movies with something to say usually do get rated higher but I do agree as well that there is a point here where the storytelling stops being as strong as it could have been. Still, it's a pretty good effort for a first time director.

Nah, this was a great movie. Good acting, great camerawork, editing and sounds. The mix of humor, strangeness and creeping fear was great.

To learn after seeing it that it's from a debut director AND low budget just makes it even more impressive. Best movie experience in a long time and one of those few movies these days that gives me hope that the industry is not totally lost.
