Hollow Earth
Where is it exactly?

The Hollow Earth Sub-Plot is easily one of the dumbest thing ever put in a movie
Now what was dumb about them traveling the 4000 miles to the center of the earth and back in only a couple hours with almost no problems?
shareSupposedly, if one were to build a tunnel through the Earth, and the exits could be anywhere, it takes 22 minutes to free fall and emerge to the other side. Even if its not through the core, say from New York to Hawaii, 22 minutes.
The tunnel would have to be an exactly straight tube though, unlike this movie which shows winding snakelike tubes requiring a vehicle to traverse. Of course, at the very least, some form of sled would probably be required if this theory actually works.
If were talking straight through the earth, traveling the 8,000 miles through that tunnel in 22 minutes would assume a free fall speed of 24,000 MPH or an 1/8th the speed of light. No way that is correct.
shareThats not 1/8 speed of light. That's similar to speeds used to orbit the Earth. The speed of light is measured in miles per second, also. Gravity is stronger closer to the core. It's measured 1G on the surface, and gets stronger and pulls you faster towards it, accelerating the entire time., The second half of your journey would be an equal amount of deceleration until you reached the exit at exactly zero speed.
What happens in this movie with gravitational inversion doesn't make any sense. It's a fun fantasy though. The center of the Earth has always made for a fun time with the imagination.
Edit: just double checked Gravity Train theory, and the time of travel for Earth is approximately 42 minutes, not 22. My mistake.
Was Megalon in the movie? He was from Seatopia which sounds like hollow Earth
shareIt is an old trope, but I guess you are one of those non-flat earthers.
shareIt seems there is a contest going on who finds the most idiotic premise to build up a monster movie.
shareWhy do you type the idiot "lol"???
shareSo, Earth's radius is 6,371 km. Kong and Godzilla were roaring at each other, one in Hong Kong the other at the center?
shareMaybe hollow earth is more of an area below the surface, but not at the planet's core. Perhaps only a mile or so deep. I mean, who's to say?
shareGiant monkeys and giant lizards surely cannot do this in real life, hey...
omfg lolz
Hell. You'll like it!
shareIt's called Pellucidar and it has a mini sun at the center of it.
shareIf Tarzan could visit, so could Kong.
shareIt's a goddamn shame we haven't gotten a Tarzan/Pellucidar movie yet. Come on, Hollywood!
shareMaybe they're skittish after John Carter, which broke even at the box office, although the recent Tarzan film was quite profitable. If done right, one can imagine a 7-film series that makes a mazillion dollars for whoever makes the film. It's equally (more?) likely some hack will botch it, and the project will fizzle after two crappy films.
