Amateurish
Still beyond me how this was ever greenlit. Banks' script is woefully bad, filled with unfunny jokes and heavy-handed feminist preaching that would never be uttered by a human being. Never mind that none of the technical details make any sense. Root access to fix the flaw in the blockchain? Clearly, Banks believes it's fine to randomly string words together as long as it sounds 'techy'.
Banks' directing isn't any better. The movie is shot in a way reminiscent of early 2000s straight-to-DVD flicks, coupled with a distinctively dated style in music and clothing. The action scenes border on parody in how poorly done they are, and Banks clearly has no idea how to direct actors, and is only saved by the few professionals working under her.
And yet, despite all this, she has two new directorial projects lined up. Truly, you only fail upwards in Hollywood.
