I thought the fact that it stunk is why it flopped.

I think the mixed / bad reviews hurt the film

Honestly, I don't think better publicity would have helped much. Okay, maybe a few more people would have seen it, but I don't think that would have changed public opinion. The film was poor. The leads had zero charisma/chemistry. And other than the name, it wasn't really Charlie's Angels.
