Cassidy meet a true vampire lol

it got me wondering why Cassidy doesnt have any of those typical vampire abilities.

Did you miss the part where the other Vamp feeds on the willing and living humans which Cassidy pointed out as the reason behind the powers? Cassidy only ever drank Human blood out of blood bags.

I guess that could be it, in the show we were only shown only Cassidy and later his son that did not have such abilities till now. Still Cassidy seems oblivious that vampirs possess those powers.

It seems to me that Cassidy is a "good" vampire, and the other dude is a very "bad" vampire. BTW he is far and away my favorite character.

I don't remember how Cassidy was turned, but he doesn't seem to be hanging with lots of vamps. He might not have learned all the "proper" vampire stuff. Or it might be just because he doesn't drink blood from humans directly.

On another note, this has been the most interesting thing that's happened this entire season for me.

In the "Preacher" comic, after being bitten by a swamp hag in Ireland, Cassidy has super strength and super speed ... he also drinks blood out of humans who attack him. He actually makes fun of the "made up" powers the cult thinks vampires have.

In the TV show, they decided to take away Cassidy's strength and speed, and give vampires all the stereotypical powers that the comic mocked.

Weird decision.
