Location Filming Nightmare

To the residents of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn... Do you mind having to vacate 8 blocks moving your 200 cars/vehicles AGAIN to film subject matter dealing in Pornography & Prostitution? Really? HBO could care less about what this quiet residential neighborhood must endure to film on-goings in two small location houses. These scenes could be filmed on a set. The kicker is the enormous trailer trucks for craft services (they could use our restaurants, no?), electricians, dressing rooms, etc... Franco must be pampered, right? This is an undue burden on a nice neighborhood. We don't know if it's a re-shoot or an ongoing problem, but WE CALL FOUL and might seek a COURT INJUNCTION! If it dives like "Vinyl", it's all for naught anyway.

reply

Wow, I don't live anywhere near you, but that sucks!

reply

The subjective matter is irrelevant here.

reply

How do you mean?

reply

Won't be taking a dive. For 2 reasons.
This is a David Simon creation.
HBO greenlit it for 3 seasons.

reply

Yay! I love the show

Film crews do pay the city they're filming in. Don't act like neighborhoods gets nothing out of it.

If you want a quiet life without urban disturbance, move to Kansas.

Part of living in a city is coping with inconveniences. Move to the suburbs if you don't like it.

Basically, nowhere's safe : )

If you're so upset about it, here's something you can do to annoy the filmmakers AND make a little extra cash at the same time...

If the exterior filming is ever done very close to your house, go outside and do something that makes A LOT of noise, such as mowing the grass with a loud lawnmower, or playing a boombox at full volume. If you have no device to make noise, just get a kitchen pot and spoon and bang it as loud as you can whenever filming starts. If you're on your own property and it's not too late at night yet, you are within your rights to do these things. Some production toadies will tell you to stop doing these things...just reply you'll stop if they pay you to stop. And don't accept anything less than two hundred bucks, either (that was the last amount I heard someone got and that was over ten years ago, too).

I never did this myself, but I heard from friends who had people in their neighborhoods do it, so I know it works.
