1. Borderlands is not as relevant as it used to be. The last game came out in 2019 and the sequels weren't nearly as popular as the first game which came out back 2009.
2. Fan reception to the trailer has been overwhelmingly negative.
3. Taking an M rated franchise and watering it down to a PG-13 rating.
3. Lionsgate admitted they had to do extensive reshoots for it last year and couldn't even get Eli Roth to return for them.
As someone who has never played Borderlands I look forward to it , and wont be influenced by expectations or similarities or lack off to the game.
Just look like an interesting post-op / fantasy movie to me.

Fallout series was really good, and I played Fallout 3 and Fallout New Vegas. They got the world right and the atmosphere. But my Fiance who barely played Fallout 3, enjoyed the series as well! So it can be done right!
Yeah I played a bit of Fallout 3 , enough to recognise the world - which they transferred well with new story elements.
I also enjoyed that Twisted Metal ( old PS1 game) they made a series of , even though never played or heard of the game
