Walked out the movie half way through it.

It would of been nice to know what it was about before I went in but I guess that's my fault a little. I thought I was going to see a hood movie or something similar to that. But it was hot garbage, It felt like Pee Wee Herman was going to start master bating in the back row soon so I got the heck out of the cinema. If I wanted to watch confused African American kids beat each other off I would of went on a porn site. I'm not bashing gays here I just wanted to see a real movie and that was a joke.

I can see how that one scene ruined the movie for you. In my opinion, showing his sexuality to that extent was somewhat unnecessary. But then again had you watched the entire film Chiron meets Kevin again ten years down the road and tells him how much impact Kevin had on his life for being "the only man who ever touched him." Also that he never touched anyone since then.

I do believe there was definitely an easier way to show it than their activities on the beach. Possibly cutting the scene after Kevin undoes Chiron's belt. That scene did change my outlook on the entire film. That was the only scene like that though and the rest of the film was very good, if you walked out after the beach scene then you missed a really good scene with Chiron at the end of Act II.

reply

Thank you JWDula I will try to watch the second half when I get a chance.

reply

I get that it made you uncomfortable, but this scene wasn't overly sexualized and actually a plot point. If the scene ended with him undoing the belt, you would have assumed they had sex. That awkward handjob was his entire sexual history because of how repressed he is.

Same here, it was ughhh wtf ?? I dont know what is going on lately with that intensive homosexual propaganda, they got more right than heterosexuals have and they are majority, if you say anything which is not supportive towards them you will be called closed casket gay, homophob and whatnot....its ridiculous and over the top....blah, I want my money back

reply

You closed casket gay. hahahahaha

reply

It's not propaganda, it's art. I get where you are coming from, as I personally found the homosexual scenes a bit awkward. There's nothing wrong with that. The problem is when you start saying "I'm against gay people and their rights". You can be supportive of gay rights and also find gay sex repulsive. They aren't mutually exclusive.

reply

So the fact that they show what looks to be a natural attraction between 2 human beings means they are pushing some type of propaganda?

Let me ask you one simple question:

If the protagonists were male and female, would you say the same BS or would you accept it simply because you've been exposed to it more than this nonexistent "homo propaganda"???

reply

Im not gonna even comment this....

reply

Homophobia much?

reply

Grow the **** up. The scene that made you uncomfortable was about as tame as a sex scene could possibly be. I'll be you have no trouble with any degree of hetero action on the screen. And learn how to spell masturbate.

reply

You ARE bashing gay people. Congrats, you're a homophobe.

reply

Once again people show their true colors when someone does not agree with them. I had my initial reaction watching the movie I paid to go see it I walked out because I did not feel comfortable watching two under age kids beating each other off and neither should you if you its child pornography and how was I to know how high a level this movie was going to go. I said I am going to watch the movie again but you just name call and show your ignorance so much that people just get sick of your bull sh--. Congrats your a winner!

reply

You're right. People should respect each other's opinions but even if I don't know you Tampatecki, I can't fell frustrated and sorry that you can't see the beauty in this film I only wish you could. Forgive the impertinence but I can assure this is out of love not a critique or anything like that.

reply

"I thought I was going to see a hood movie or something similar to that. "

This tells me everything I need to know about your cinematic "taste" level.

Geez "hood movie" wtf???

reply

Would you have had the same reaction if it was a man and a woman?

reply

But they where little boys not men or women. And yes a hood movie I guess your too good for classic movies like Boys In The Hood etc... That kind of BS attitude makes me sick like your to good for African American films. People want to be PC then they snub there nose like you know what you really are.

reply

They WERE little boys...

YOU'RE too good...

like YOU'RE TOO good...

snub THEIR NOSES...

(You're welcome.)

reply

Im kinda not sure if you are being serious.

A. This is a real movie...a bloody good one too. The story relates to more then being gay.
The movie deals with abusive parents, bullying and so on.

B. How the *beep* did you not know about the movie going in? I guess you didn't see the trailer or all the oscar buzz this is getting.

C. You're homophobic reaction to this is more reason why this movie is so important.

D. Aint nobody wanting to watch another hood gangbanging movie that tries to be cheap copy of Boyz n the Hood. This is the kinda sterotypical *beep* which we need to get away from.

That sexual moment was also Tame as *beep*. It was shocking at first but they handled it well and it didn't go crazy X rated. Also They were Teens probably like 16-18. You make it sound like they were 10 year olds.

reply

I guess this is a movie for Effeminate men etc.. I am to blame for just glancing at the plot on this website. I should of known better if it was getting Oscar buzz it must be one of these films about confusion of sexuality. I do not find this type of movie the least bit interesting. So you can mock me or tell me I am not intellectual enough blah blah blah blah blah. Don't get all butt hurt because I didn't enjoy you lame movie.

reply

Who's making fun of you? That's unacceptable. You have the right to be wrong.
Moonlight is my favorite movie of the year.

hahahahahaha

reply

Yeah, those movies about effeminate men confused about their sexuality, like Arrival, Fences, Hacksaw Ridge, Hell or High Water and Manchester by the Sea.

You so perceptive, macho man.

I liked the movie, but I didn't know anything about it going in either except that it was getting a lot of buzz.
