My TV seemed to have missed a few minutes in the beginning of the first episode of this last season... Can someone tell me in detail what happens before Chidi summons de philosophy book, please?

You haven’t missed too much at all.
The episode opens with Eleanor showing Chidi the town square and he’s over the top with excitement at how vibrant and perfect the neighbourhood seems to be and she is trying really hard to collect herself and hold her emotions in check because it’s really hard for her to see him — when he no longer remembers her.
The very next scene is her showing him his apartment and the books!
