Eleanor Shellstrop and Chidi Anagonye: Round Two

This was one of my favorite seasons of television in recent memory, and I think it's earned a slot in the canon just based on individual seasons. The show was replete with wonderful elements, but I have to say that my favorite aspect above all was the relationship between Eleanor and Chidi. I loved their friendship and one of my favorite TV moments last year was at the end of "Most Improved Player", when Chidi hugged her goodbye when it was thought that she was headed to "The Bad Place". (Hilariously ironic in retrospect.) Kristen Bell and William Jackson Harper (in what should be a star-making performance) were and are magic together, and watching them in tandem was a highlight of my week. That said, the twist has upended all of that, which I'll admit is a bit upsetting, but I trust Mike Schur and I'm willing to go along for the ride.

I'm curious as to what the dynamic between Eleanor and Chidi will be in the second season, as it is clear some changes are in store. If Eleanor is able to find Chidi, I'm itching to see what their relationship will be like, if they're going to be able to click the same way as they were before.

Any thoughts?

Completely agree with you- one thing I love about the show is the care that went into casting. Not just in terms of diversity, which is awesome btw, but the actors themselves. They each bring a certain something to the role & they all gel perfectly. Every once in a while I find a show like this that has all the elements right. Bell and Harper balance each other. I love Bell, seen her in a million things but she specifically shines in this role. I totally forget it's even her when I'm watching.

In terms of S2, I'm not too worried about their relationship. I like that out of everything Eleanor could've written, she chose to write "find Chidi." He changed her whole perspective and was the flaw in Michael's plan. I can't see this not being explored in S2.

-Who is it?
-It's Grandpa. And it sounds like he's gotten into the horseradish again.

From what I read, KB may have had a hand in WJH's selection - she said that as they were reading during his audition, she felt that she could have chemistry with him and that she "kind of fell in love with him".

In the last couple of years or so she has become quite possibly my favorite actress - she's actually the reason I watched this show in the first place, and am very glad that I did.

I hope so. It would be a shame if it wasn't.
