the concept of the "good place" is now stupid

It was already a little disheartening that someone like Eleanor, who wasn't a murderer or a rapist or an actual deplorable person, someone who was just a "bitch", could end up in hell. Albeit, it was funny and made sense in contrast to people who dedicated their lives to ethics and charity. But if someone like Chidi belongs in the bad place for simply being annoying and bad at making decisions? If Tahina belongs there because she wanted attention and praise for being charitable...eh that's just dumb, don't you think? Who belongs in the good place then? If Mindy belonged in the medium place and that was supposedly the first case ever where they couldn't decide...how would they possibly let her live there but are sure Chidi belongs in the bad place?

I love the twist because it answers the question on how the story could continue once Elle tells her secret...plus it was just cool and unexpected...but I also kind of feel like the whole premise of the show is ruined and silly now?

The Good Place and The Bad Place aren't intended to be the equivalent of heaven and hell.

Also: I'm pretty sure The Medium Place and Mindy were just part of the fakery. The Medium Place was part of The Bad Place, and Mindy was just another demon or whatever they have "acting" out the part.

I doubt it. Remember that just Michael and Sean were standing around -- alone -- discussing how the three fugitives had disappeared and they didn't know where they were? If Mindy and her home were fakes, they'd know exactly where they were. I think that place was a real neighborhood that was just forgotten by the architects.

And, it's interesting that Janet knew about "the middle place" despite the fact that she had been rebooted during the season. Somehow, some information leaked through during her reboot.

I don't think that the architects don't have full control over their environment and that will be important in Season 2.

The medium place was real. I use the video as proof. If it was fake, Michael would've been in the video as the good place rep. But it was Adam Scott and that other girl we don't know yet. Thus, they stumbled upon a real place.

From the introduction, it was established that the rules were bizarre, and arbitrary in many instances. Also, some were incredibly specific, like:

-Fix broken tricycle for child who loves tricycles: +6.60
-Fix broken tricycle for child who is indifferent to tricycles: +0.04

Now, that introduction could've been part of the trick itself, or those might be legitimate good/bad things, it's just that Tahani's didn't count because of her motivation, and Chidi's negative impact on everyone around him outweighed whatever good things he actually did.

If Mindy belonged in the medium place and that was supposedly the first case ever where they couldn't decide...how would they possibly let her live there but are sure Chidi belongs in the bad place?

I think she was a unique case because she was a terrible person overall, but she had one good, selfless idea that went on to do massive good in the world. Good argued for the charity she created, Bad argued for who she was and how she acted regularly. They couldn't decide which of the two deserved her because of the drastic difference between the types of her good and bad, so they compromised.

Chidi, on the other hand, is just a sum of his good and bad like everyone else. He may have done a decent amount of good things, but his negatives also piled up, and apparently piled up too much to get him into the Good Place.

They make it crystal clear that almost NO ONE ends up in The Good Place, only true living saints. Someone like Eleanor would never have actually made it.

You might not like it because you know that in this show's fictional version of the afterlife, you'd end up in their "Bad Place" but that's just the way it is. So would we all.
