Would it have worked if they had an eternity?
I mean if Shawn said just figure it out among yourselves and get back to me, they would have probably quickly realised they had no deadline and just indefinitely put it off to avoid anyone going.
If they didn't have a limited window, they wouldn't have needed to sweat.
