Some people CALLED IT from the start but...[spoilers]

I remember a few people called it from the first couple of episodes that this was actually the Bad Place.

I don't see them now gloating about, probably because they called it for the wrong reasons, like searching desperately for a bigger twist.

I wasn't one of them. I was pretty sure that this was the Good Place and not a grand scheme for torturing just ...4 souls.

Anyway, overall I liked the twist except maybe Michael being Evil after all.

Yes i knew it was the bad place. Its similiar to an old twilight zone episode 'Nice Place to Visit'. I was starting to think i was wrong though, they went along for a long time without revealing it :)

Plus everybody in 'the good place' was a total twat.

I thought it was going to end with Eleanor on the run, but she came back like mid episode of series finale.

-Who is it?

I created a post ("The Good Place is not that good"), talking about how horribly frustrating the Good Place was. But I didn't expect the twist; I LOVED it when Michael started chuckling devilishly.

Yeah, I never saw it coming. I agree with you on everything, it was great expect perhaps Michael being secretly evil. Still I've already seen a few theories speculating that from the Demon's POV he's actually a great guy considering he's given them something they clearly enjoy to do for all eternity, as opposed to all the dull office work they had before this.

It's such a simple twist that it must cross everybody's mind, but the show did a good job of distracting you from feeding that feeling too much.

Yes. Pretty much I agree with all of you.
After the first couple episodes, the show established that it is going to be full of twists, so what would be more obvious than for this to be the Bad Place.

At some point though, in its course, the show makes you focus more on finding a way for Eleanor to stay in the "good" place that you forget the hunch of a Big Twist.

I didn't call it from the start, but Chidi's backstory gave it away for me. He was just another version of an awful person.

I began to suspect something was wrong since Thani was obviously not meant to be in The Good Place. But I did not figure out what it was before the finale. Good twist.

For me it didn't work like that because of the criteria.
I wasn't thinking he or she is a "bad person" because the Afterlife had an unusual point system.
Not the traditional virtues of Christianity.

Just one of those twists in hindsight you think but of course, very well played. I think the twist was better than the show honestly almost gave up on it when the story got a little old. Glad I stuck it out though.

Yeah I'm glad this show is brave enough to switch gears so much. I probably would have dropped it too if it was multiple seasons of Eleanor learning how to be a good person and hiding her identity from Michael.
