Season Finale Knocked It Out Of The Park

That was probably the most hilariously clever ending that could have possibly taken place..

I fully expected Michael to cut Eleanor off and debunk her wild theory, and for the judge to be all "Well you're really a good person now congrats you get to stay", and for everyone to live happily ever after and tie all the strings together in a neat little bow. When that wasn't the case, my mind was BLOWN and I was laughing through the next five minutes of exposition and the obvious set-up for the next season.

I'm excited for season two now because of this. I wasn't planning on watching another season of Eleanor being a bad-person-turned-good and her secret being out and Michael being cool with everything because that plot started to get old. This show really set itself up excellently for the next season, I'm definitely tuning in to see where the pieces fall 'this time' around.

The first season was already an original concept unlike anything else on television this fall/spring cycle, but season two looks to be on a whole other level and I haven't been hyped for a show since I was waiting on season four of Game of Thrones.

I fully agree. The season finale was phenomenal!

I was expecting something like Eleanor's revelation about them being in the bad place was going to amuse Sean so much that he laughed for the first time and since she did that for him he let them all stay.
Then since she had proven bad people can change the whole system of judgment would be re-evaluated to account for that and that was Michael's plan all along.

I know that's a bit cliché but I didn't really think this show was going to be as clever as it turned out to be. I was very surprised when she was right.
I would have watched a second season anyway but this has made me a lot more interested in it.

My biggest problem now is everyone I know who watches it is a few episodes behind so I have to keep my mouth shut about it.

So what was the answer? I miss the season finale.

They were all in the bad place and the whole thing was a new version of Hell made by Michael who was trying something different.

reply

I hope no one tells you, because you REALLY need to see it for yourself. I guarantee you will absolutely be blown away, and you'll never see it coming. 100% brilliant.

reply

That blew me away. And, in particular, relying on Ted Danson's laugh to confirm it… wow. So well done!

reply

My favorite part was when he casually knocked the thing off the table.

Awesome :D love Ted Danson

reply

Yeah, his evil laugh was just... perfect.

reply

It was brilliant! I hope they get a season two!

Sometimes I like to tape my thumbs to my palms and pretend I am a velociraptor.

I wonder if the antagonism between Trevor and Michael is real, with Trevor being more of an old school fire and brimstone guy who takes a dim view of Michael and his new school innovations. I also wonder if they had a side bet going on what Eleanor would do.

reply

Wait! What! But what about fake Eleanor's soul mate? How is he in the Bad Place?
It's totally cool to give me a spoiler because I will still watch it on Hulu and I'm not uptight about nonsense.

reply

Chidi was in the Bad Place because his rigidity and indecision lessened the quality of life of everyone close to him.

reply

Wow! I definitely have to catch up on what I missed. Thanks for the information!!

reply

Chidi was the equivalent of someone who is all faith and no action. The classic professor of engineering who is unable to change the oil in his own car.

And Jianyu never got old in the finale. "Yea, we get to stay."

My Chimp DNA seems to have lost its password temporarily. Sluggr-2

Also

She's not fake Elanor. The opposite. The "real" Elanor was working with Michael all along. In fact, her name is Viki and she was acting.

So "fake" Elanor is the only Elanor.

reply

Totally agree with how original and clever this ended the season. Really looking forward to the second season!

reply

Talk about a complete game changer.

reply

Agreed! I enjoyed the entire season, but the finale was the best episode yet. I did not see that twist coming at all, yet it makes a lot of sense. I really hope NBC picks up the show for season 2, if they haven't already.

reply

So next season its called The Bad Place?
