We All Have to Make Our Own Mistakes

There's a great Edna Ferber line that pretty much sums up the movie for me, "About mistakes, it's funny. You've got to make your own; and not only that, if you try to keep other people from making theirs they get mad."

Christine AKA Lady Bird makes loads of mistakes with her parents, teachers, best friend, and boys, but they're the kind of mistakes most high school kids have to make so they can learn from them. Beanie Feldstein was excellent as Julie. My favorite performance in the whole movie.

Kudos to Laurie Metcalf and Tracy Letts for not just playing generic "movie parents."

Food in Films: Lady Bird obviously has no idea how scrambled eggs are supposed to be served.
