Uncle monty?
Anyone else feel like he was miscast in the show?
The guy who played uncle monty in the movie looked more the part than this guy

No his acting was on point.

Thought he was fantastic. Warm and endearing and totally got the tone of the show.
shareIf he was supposed to becotalian than yes because he looks Indian, not sure why they bothered why not just make Monty Indian
shareI think Uncle Monty was portrayed very well here. The only thing that did disappoint me is that most of the characters look like they were straight out of the book illustrations. However, I think some change is okay in Monty's case; he looked extremely creepy in the illustrations, like a fat Mrs. Frizzle. He did have some allusions to his book counterpart, for instance a wavy snake-like moustache rather than the crazy snake-like hair.
But more importantly, they got his personality just right. He is friendly, welcoming, and gets along great with the children. He comes the closest to actually getting rid of Count Olaf, or "Stephano" (he may not realize that he really is Count Olaf, but he did catch on that he was a Fraud and no good for the children or himself).
One character that I do think was miscast was Aunt Josephine. I get that they are trying to have diversity, but I think she was portrayed perfectly in the movie. If Joesphine was ever a fierce and dedicated guardian, it was in another life a long time ago. Joesphine is a basket case, constantly anxious and afraid of the most bizarre things. There are really people like that, and the film hit the nail on the head. The series did not, unfortunately. I guess that would be my one disappointment.
You're saying because of "diversity" it cast Aunt Josephine to be played by a Black that she wasn't portrayed perfectly as Meryl Streep from the movie did the character?
yep that's what you said.
and you back that up by saying If Joesphine was ever a fierce and dedicated guardian, it was in another life a long time ago. Joesphine is a basket case, constantly anxious and afraid of the most bizarre things. There are really people like that, and the film hit the nail on the head.
You clearly ignored everything about Aunt Josephine in the TV Series except for her skin color. If you think only the Movie portrayed that well.
and the whole world has to answer right now just to tell you once again. Who's Bad?
I liked him the best out of all the adult cast of book characters, apart from Gustav and Jacquelyn and the waiter at the clown restaurant.
shareI read all the books as a kid, and I think Uncle Monty was cast perfectly for both the series and the movie. Uncle Monty always seems to be my favorite guardian/character.
