Utter pap. Avoid like the plague unless you want to mock it.

This just became worse by the week starting with the appalling dialogue, wooden acting and embarrassingly caricatured characters.

I was watching in the hope that it would get better, but then it started to deteriorate as poor choices by the leads and contrived plot developments coupled with sheer stupidity piled layer upon layer of ignominy on everyone involved.

It's actually surpassed "The Following" as one of the most absurd pieces of fetid tripe that it's been my misfortune to watch. And that was miserably bad.

The only reason I carried on watching it was to laugh along with it and play drinking games based upon the number of ridiculous events which occur with monotonous regularity in every episode, which is all it deserves.

I do quite like my intelligence insulted when it's done so brazenly, since there aren't many purportedly serious dramas that try to get away with this sort of in-your-face "Why the hell are you watching this rubbish?" attitude.

I hope that you enjoy it in the same way that I did, because from any other perspective it's a complete disaster.

I'm along because I really enjoy the show. But I don't begrudge him as that was exactly the way I loved The Following. We used to have small parties with popcorn and wine and watch the show and laugh our asses off. So if he gets that pleasure here more power to him.

I'm just glad Lucky Man got the ratings and acclaim it did. Now I just have to wait a year for series 2.

True, it had some painful flaws but it was still a great show, with a very different premise. Every show is going to have flaws, you just learn to appreciate them from different angles.
Very happy it was renewed.

trust me, you are not alone =)
took a while for the show to grab me, was a bit all over the place but with time they got it right =)
sure this ending could be better, but at least we have a lot to pick up on s2

The Helicopter surveillance scene: "You should have eyes on him soon, so I'll be off for lunch." and Golding's final escape "I'll just nip over here and hide behind this hedge." were golden. 

SWAT was supposed to shoot at the Governor? Especially given no one talking had any idea that he was a bad guy not one of the victims in a scene did not yet understand. Best they could do would be try to secure him from danger, but as he was trying to evade once obscured from view I have no trouble seeing him escape.

They had no information. It's not like they were watching the show with us.

The helicopter scene is harder to defend.

I had more trouble with the number of rounds SWAT fired. That's more than we Brits use in a year all counted. That was like American cops.

Yeah the writers continuously found themselves in tough spots and had to have characters act out of character to further the plot.

Golding being Julien was obvious from episode 4 on, which made it even more annoying when characters did stupid things or didn't do something fairly obvious, so his true identity wouldn't be revealed.

It was still better than the following though. I gave up on it after 2 episodes. I got through 6 of this before the stupidity compelled a quick exit.

British mysteries don't usually have such obvious and contrived plots (the one's I've watched anyways), but this one was really bad.

I should have known it was going that route when Eve gave Harry the bracelet and then didn't tell him anything about how it worked. Of course they couldn't meet up until 4 episodes later when she finally explained some of how it worked. What point was there to that other than it was needed so we could watch Harry stumble around in the dark for 5 episodes?
