I love French but don't speak it fluently.
I was not familiar with the word treve. But wonder if it could have been a play on the word reve, which means dream. There were certainly a lot of dreams in the series, one every episode I believe, being experienced by different people.
Any French-speakers who can comment?

"La trêve"'s meaning is very different than "Le rêve"'s . The two words' ends are the same but that happens very often in French (you could also take "la drève" which sounds very close to "la trêve" but "la drève" means a small road with trees on both borders) which leads to feeding poetry, humor, etc...
As "la trêve" is female and "le rêve" is male (that doesn't exist in English as "the" is neutral), it's even more unlikely that there could be a double meaning in "La trêve" leading to "Le rêve".

My French is not very good either but I find the speakers in this Belgian program much easier to understand than any French television series I have ever watched, for instance Spiral, in which I hardly understood a word. Am I imagining this?
