What would have been cool is...
Have a large group of 15 strangers stay for a month or two in the haunted hellevator house.
Have contestants endure physical and mental competitions for one grand prize winner at the end of the show.
Have contestants "killed" off one by one, horror movie style, based upon lowest competition scores.
chill there, Satan. I'm sure one night is enough for them psychologically.

shareThe user review which suggested placing people in game show versions of classic horror scenarios (survive in the woods hiding from a masked killer, etc) had the right idea. Instead Hellevator gets it backwards, giving the viewer horror versions of hoary game show challenges (find a key, match the sounds, solve a puzzle, balance on a beam...) dressed up with gory props. It's just lazy game design.
