I feel the same way. Unlike a lot of people, I didn't know who they were until I saw this show. The thing is, I'm not the biggest fan of horror because I get scared really easily! However, I checked this show out of Netflix during October and I loved it immediately! It scared me but also entertained me. I understand why some people might find them annoying, but I personally loved the lines that they were given! It helped lighten things up a little bit and kept it from being too serious and boring. I feel that if they used some big, demonic voice-over it wouldn't have felt natural. I especially liked them in the second season when they were allowed to be more involved with the contestants. Seeing them step into the Hellevator and put a bag over one guy's head is strangely hilarious. I also have to comment on their appearances (don't get the wrong idea, I'm not a lesbian).
I really like the outfits they wore in both seasons. The season 1 look represented kind of the classic horror movie character style. The long, black dresses contribute a sense elegance. Something similar to what Elvira or Morticia Addams would wear. See, I prefer classic horror materials which manages to frighten observers while keeping a sophisticated feel. The accessories also helped accentuate the style. Jen's skeletal hand accessory was a nice touch and I'd totally wear something like Sylvia's spider necklace. The outfits in the second season represented a more modern style. The form-fitting design helped accentuate their slim figure, but the fabric also helped add some cover so it wouldn't show too much skin for my liking. The boots helped add to the look. The boots made them look tall and accented their pretty legs. Finally, I'd like to talk about the makeup. I don't know who did their makeup but whoever it was did a fantastic job! Although the styles look different in the two seasons, they deliver the same vibe. Both makeup styles give the twins an eerie, menacing appearance.
Although I really like the hostesses, I don't think I'd be interested in checking out any other works that they've had a part in. I've stated before that I'm not the biggest fan of horror because I get scared very easily. I've seen a few interviews that they've been in and I must say that I've become very interested in them. You can really tell how much they care about each-other by the way they communicate. It's really nice and incredibly satisfying to see how much love they have. I remember Jen saying that her biggest fear is losing her twin and Sylvia replying by joking that she promised that she'd come back as a ghost and haunt her sister. I know she was probably kidding, but spending your afterlife watching over your sister is a big decision. Sylvia said that she's afraid of commitment, but "commitment" is kind of a broad term. She's obviously committed to her sister so I think it's more likely a fear of vulnerability or being emotionally hurt. I mean, there are a lot of scummy guys out there so it makes sense. I'm not a psychologist so don't quote me on any of that.
