Holly's Purging (Drop Dead Gorgeous episode)

I made a previous post about one character from the episode Drop Dead Gorgeous. I mentioned that I felt really bad for Holly especially when the story mentioned that she started purging. There's one other thing that I'd like to discuss. The story said that Holly was repulsed by the sunken cheeks which resulted from her purging. In reality, purging can cause the opposite effect. As a result of dehydration, the body tries to hold in as much moisture as possible which leads to facial swelling known as "bulimia face." Another cause is the increased amount of activity in the salivary glands in attempt to produce more saliva to protect the mouth and throat from stomach acid. I really do like this show, it's just that inaccurate information on medical conditions is kind of a pet peeve of mine. Plus, I just have a habit of looking into things too deeply so I'm sorry if this comes across as off-putting.
