Fell just short in my opinion.

I was eager to watch this for months up to its release. Watching the trailer you can already guess the outcome of the film. First thing that kinda got to me was the 81 minute run time, never a good sign when a horror movie is that short. Yeah the jump scares were good, good plot for the story and characters ect but for me it just seemed too rushed. There wasn't enough insight into the mothers past or much about the Diane character. Mother was depressed and went to a mental hospital as a child? Why was that? Diane was different, burns in light and can get into the minds of people...ok right tell us more. That kind of thing really bugs when not enough is explained and its hard trying to discuss this without spoilers. Someone said this was better than Conjuring 2, i enjoyed this film overall but i think Conjuring 2 was much better.

Aww don't say that :(

I agree.

I was excited for it but thought it was extremely average.

It felt like the exact same jump scares were just repeated endlessly for 80 minutes. I also agree that it felt rushed. The backstory was not explored all that well and it felt like it was missing a truly 'menacing' element.

Yeah i wish they added about 10 more minutes of time explaining the dianna and the mothers relationship. I enjoyed the movie a lot though, I'm kinda glad they made it a lil too short than a lil too long.

Yeah I heard good things before I seen it, so went along tonight, didn't do anything for me, fe jump scares, unexplained elements, undeveloped characters, bit of a let down

I agree I was left a little disappointed. Something was lacking. It wasn't terrible and it was creepy but I just didn't love it. Agree about the conjuring 2.

I agree with everything you said. I had so many questions while watching, why was the corpse of Diane in the cellar? Didn't they show a picture of her being practically dust when she died? Why was the corpse full grown if she died when she was a kid? And after they found the body there were 2 versions of Diane running around in the house...?

That part was really weird to me, I get that they wanted to have a ~twist~ to surprise people but it just baffled me and I couldn't concentrate on the movie. Maybe someone can explain this to me.

I liked the investigation part of the plot, but it just moved too fast. Conjuring 2 was definitely better than this.
