The Biggest Plot Hole (That Ruined The Movie)

When the daughter finds the box about Diana and plays the tape, the FIRST THING the doctor says is that Diana has a skin condition that makes her extremely sensitive to light.

........SO WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU GIVE A PATIENT LIKE THAT *LIGHT* THERAPY??!!!

I mean we're talking about someone for whom even a small amount of a light is apparently deadly, let alone HIGH INTENSITY, FULL SPECTRUM LIGHT. And I paused the little article she picked up, light therapy (which is a real thing apparently) is for people who are bipolar & whatnot, not for LIGHT SENSITIVE skin conditions.

I mean it is literally the equivalent of trying cure somebody's allergy to shellfish by feeding them a *beep* of shellfish.

After this happened it pissed me off so much I could barely take the rest of the movie seriously (not that there was much to take seriously to begin with).

They said there was an accident during the treatment -- they likely didn't mean to blast her with all the lights right away.

Many studies suggest constant exposure to allergens eventually desensitize some people with allergies (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2783630/).

My other half, as a different example, is undergoing desensitization treatment for his foot even though the process causes him pain.

Yes. Just like vaccines are giving us a little bit of the illness to help us build up a way to fight it. Or something like that.

I thought it odd how she conveniently found all that info so easily after all these years of it being around. All of a sudden it's just sitting out in the open?

reply

The movie talks about how the dad was researching Diana which is 1.) why she killed him and 2.) why all of that stuff was still there.

reply

Same here. At first I thought it was a bizarre use of the "flooding" technique used in psychiatry, but that made no sense.

reply

No that was not the part that ruined the movie. They could have left all that out since it didn't really add anything to the overall story. What ruined the movie is how inconsistent it was dealing with Diana. You didn't even care or react halfway through the movie.

that is not a real plot hole...but a real plot hole is how in gods name did Maria Bello get hold on all those secret doctor files and tapes as an inmate herself?? she wouldnt have access to those files...that was the biggest plot hole of this retarded kid movie...if your older then 10...then you laugh at this horrid mess of a horror movie...
