If you remove all the 10s and all the 1's, the average IMDb rating would be 7.0 as of this writing.

I've haven't yet seen this film but I saw the actors involved, thought "that could be interesting", looked into it & saw it gets a 4.0. When I look at the votes cast, at time of writing (Oct 10th), 99% of votes (literally) is either a 1 or a 10.

Something's clearly not right here.

What the rating if you just remove the 1s?

The arithmetic mean without the 1s and 10s is 6.97. That's not the same as the IMDB score, because the score is a weighted average and IMDB doesn't disclose the weights. For example, the mean of all the scores is 4.3 but the IMDB score is 4.1 (as of this writing). The mean without the 1s but including the 10s is 9.9 but this, of course, is meaningless, because many people voted 10 just to offset the 1s. In general, this is a clear case were the IMDB scoring doesn't work...
