I read that Fat Amy was originally supposed to be the focus of Pitch Perfect 2. Horrible idea. She is best as a side character. If she takes the focus of the film I ain't gonna watch it.

shareYep, the problem with Characters like Fat Amy, is they get popular because as a sidekick / side character. they throw out one or two funny sayings in a movie, so they get a fan base, so some bright studio / writer / director decides hey lets make her the focal point of the movie and then that movie ends up terrible
A perfect example of this is the Stifler character in the American Pie series, he was great as a side character in the first two films, then they decided to make him on of the leads in the third one, and that movie was bad and too much stiffler gets boring pretty quickly
